Photo of Laurie Better PerlisDr. Perlis is a licensed psychologist providing psychotherapy and psycho-educational evaluations for children, adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of developmental and psychological difficulties. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of childhood anxiety and sleep disorders (OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobias, Social Anxiety Disorder, Separation Anxiety Disorder, Insomnia) and in the evaluation and treatment of individuals (of all ages) with neurodevelopmental disorders including ADHD, Executive Functioning challenges, Learning Disorders and Autism Spectrum and related conditions (Asperger Syndrome, Nonverbal Learning Disability, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder NOS).

Dr. Perlis primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a form of evidence-based psychotherapy in which the therapist, client and family work together as a team to identify and solve problems. She also provides behavioral support and training to parents and caregivers of youth with special needs and offers individual and group-based social skills training. Dr. Perlis routinely consults with school staff, pediatricians, psychiatrists and other providers to coordinate care and ensure a comprehensive and effective treatment plan.

Dr. Perlis joined PRA in 2011. She received her undergraduate degree in psychological and brain sciences from the Johns Hopkins University and received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University in New York City. Dr. Perlis completed a postdoctoral fellowship in autism spectrum and related developmental disorders at the Fay J. Lindner Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities in New York. Prior to joining PRA, Dr. Perlis was a senior psychologist at the Lindner Center where she trained and supervised clinical staff and provided clinical services including psychotherapy, social skills training and developmental, psycho-educational and diagnostic (ADOS) evaluations. She also developed innovative social programming for youth and adults with autism spectrum disorders and co-authored articles and presentations on topics such as identifying autism spectrum conditions in adulthood and the unique experience of girls and women on the autism spectrum.
